David C. “Dave” Klopstein, age 55, of Black River Falls and formerly of Watertown, died on Sunday morning, August 29, 2010 at his home in rural Black River Falls surrounded by his family and under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.
David Carl Klopstein was born on August 26, 1955 in Milwaukee to Carl and LaVerne (Payne) Klopstein. He was raised in Milwaukee and graduated from Juneau High School, Milwaukee, in 1974.
Dave first was employed in various factories including Renner where he worked for 13 years. He later became employed as an iron worker working on the steel beam and girder structures of many, tall buildings. He most recently was employed as an iron worker foreman by Vance Olson Construction of Germantown, WI.
He married Holly Lieblang on September 9, 1978 at Golden Lake (Oconomowoc). Following their marriage, Dave and Holly lived in Sullivan, WI where they raised their three daughters. They later moved to Watertown where they lived for 15 years. Seven years ago, the couple purchased property on Allen Creek Road in the Town of Alma, Jackson County . Holly and Dave loved their Allen Creek Road property and it was Dave’s dream to build a permanent house there.
Dave was a “jack of all trades” and could repair most anything. He also had the distinction of teaching several of his nephews to become iron workers.
He enjoyed hunting (gun and bow), fishing, woodworking, cutting fire wood, and working on and improving his Allen Creek Road property. He enjoyed the outdoors very much.
Survivors include his wife, Holly: 3 daughters, Robyn (David Rogers) Klopstein of Brillion, WI, and Kristy (Cory) Rupprecht and Kelli (Brett Kuehn) Klopstein both of Waukesha; a grandson, Austin Klopstein; a sister, Cheryl (Paul) Schmitt of Wisconsin Dells; his mother-in-law, Joyce Lieblang of Delafield; and 2 brothers-in-law, Jay (Mary) Lieblang of Concord, WI, and Ricky (Judy) Lieblang of Delafield; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, Martin Lieblang; a sister, Kathy Masse; a brother, Gary Klopstein; and 2 nieces, Tina Schmitt and Marissa Lieblang.
Memorial services for David C. ‘Dave” Klopstein will be held at 1 P.M. on
Friday, September 3, 2010 at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls.
Family and friends are invited for visitation from noon to 1 P.M. on Friday at the funeral home.
