Darlene S. Dobson, age 82, of Blair and formerly of Black River Falls, died Sunday, July 11, 2010 in Tri-County Memorial Hospital, Whitehall.
Darlene Susan Miller was born on February 14, 1928 in Jefferson County, Wis., to Joseph and Lois (Zimmerman) Miller. She was raised in Whitewater, Wis.
She married Gerald Dobson on August 18, 1945 in Whitewater. Following their marriage, Darlene and Gerald moved to rural Black River Falls. Gerald Dobson died on December 21, 1985.
Darlene farmed with her husband, Gerald, in rural Black River Falls for many years. She also was employed as a school bus driver by the Black River Falls School District for 25 years.
She moved to Blair in 1988 and then moved to Racine in 1996. She returned to Blair in 1998.
She was a member of First Lutheran Church of Blair and the Blair Sportsmens Club. She enjoyed spending time with her family, fishing, camping, hummingbirds, butterflies, and baking. She made the best apple pies!
Survivors include 2 daughters, Jane (Ronald) Risberg of Blair and Cathy Breining of Hixton; 3 sons, Raymond (Debra Hanke-Dobson) Dobson of Sayner, Wis., Brian (fiancé, Jan Vranish) Dobson of Taylor, and Lyle (Charlene) Dobson of Black River Falls; 18 grandchildren; 41 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Joan (Ted) Gunderson of Elkhorn, Wis. and Pauline Fero of Apple Valley, Cal.; and 2 brothers, Lauren (Pat) Miller of Whitewater and Allen (Sandy) Miller of Evansville; and numerous other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Gerald, Darlene was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Susan, a daughter, Karen Amundson, and a brother, Joseph Miller.
Funeral services will be held at 7 P.M. on Thursday, July 15, 2010 at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. Pastor Calvin Thoreson will officiate. Burial will be at 10 A.M. on Friday, July 16, in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.
Family and friends are invited for visitation from 5 to 7 P.M. on Thursday at the Buswell Funeral Home. Following the Thursday evening service, family and friends are also invited to the Miles-Hagen American Legion Hall, Black River Falls.
