Willard T. “Bill” Simplot, age 88, of Black River Falls died Monday, January 18, 2010 at the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Tomah. Bill was born on June 3, 1921 in Black River Falls to John and Ida (Taylor) Simplot. He was raised in the Black River Falls area and graduated from Black River Falls High School. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in both Theaters. Bill married Isabel C. “Sally” Vance in 1954 in Lake Geneva. Sally Simplot died on January 1, 2003. In addition to having lived at Back River Falls, he also lived in Lake Geneva and Kenosha. Bill and Sally owned and operated the Falls Taxi Cab Service for several years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. Survivors include his caregivers, Betty Simplot of Black River Falls and Jerry Huber of Cataract; friends, Joyce and Chuck Therkildsen; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends. In addition to his wife, Sally, Bill was preceded in death by his brothers, Roy, Forrest, Art. Warren, and John; and a sister, Arvilda. In accordance with Bill’s wishes, there will be no visitation or funeral services. Burial of his cremated remains will be in the Sullivan Cemetery, rural Black River Falls, in the spring of 2010.
