Lawrence Truman Snowball Nįįžuga Lawrence T. Snowball, age 84, of Black River Falls, died Thursday, December 17, 2009 in his home. Lawrence Truman Snowball was born on November 16, 1925 to Luke and Annie (Waukon) Snowball in Blue Earth, MN. In addition to having lived at Black River Falls, he had lived in various other locations including Rockford, IL. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Lawrence married the former Ellen Rose Wilson White and they were later divorced. He was employed as a heavy equipment operating engineer and had been employed by L. E. Phillips Construction Company and more recently by the Town of Komensky. Lawrence was a member of the Andrew Blackhawk American Legion Post 129. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, and walking. He was an outdoorsman. Surviving are his ex-wife, Ellen Rose Snowball; sons, Calvin Harland (Margo)Snowball and David Snowball; daughters, Ruth Debra Rave, Laura Lee Snake, Pamela Hall, Sue Slowey, Tara (Curtis) Tindall, Eileen Snowball, and Minette Smith; sisters, Irene Malleck and Mildred A. Decorah; 34 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; Ho-Chunk mothers, Mary Payer and Celestine Contreras; and numerous Ho-Chunk sons, daughters, nieces, nephews (Youngthunders, Blackdeers, Payers). He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke & Annie (Waukon) Snowball; a son, Lawrence Travis Snowball; brothers, Dan Snowball, Luke Snowball, Frank Snowball, Phillip Snowball and Gordon Snowball; sisters, Matilda WhiteDog, Mildred B. Snowball, Exhilda Goodbear, and Lorraine Carrimon; and nieces, Dorothy Goodbear, Rita Carimon, and Jenny Carimon. Native American Church of North America funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Sunday, December 20, 2009 at the District One Community Center and burial will be in the Winnebago United Church of Christ Cemetery, both in rural Black River Falls. Wilbert Cleveland will officiate and military honors will be conducted by the Andrew Blackhawk American Legion Post 129 and Auxiliary Unit. Family and friends are invited for visitation after 4 P.M. on Saturday, December 19, at the District One Community Center.
