Minnie J. Bell, age 83, of Ripon and long-time rural Humbird resident, died Thursday morning, November 5, 2009 in the Fountain View Care Center,Ripon. Minnie Jean Hedding was born on January 16, 1926 near Clintonville, WI to Ira and Ethel (Faylor) Hedding. She was raised in the Clintonville area and moved with her family to the Humbird area when she was a teenager. She graduated from Humbird High School. She married Robert A. Bell on June 8, 1944 in Minneapolis. The couple first farmed near Cadott, WI for 5 years before moving to rural Humbird. Robert Bell died on September 13, 1996. Following Robert’s death, Minnie continued to reside in rural Humbird until moving to Ripon in October, 2008. Minnie had been employed at Dadco Food Products (Roma Pizza) of Black River Falls. She enjoyed vegetable and flower gardening, sewing, baking, canning, cooking, and writing (compiling her family’s history). Survivors include a daughter, Bonnie (Tom) Wilber of Ripon; 2 sons, Kenneth (Debra) Bell of Humbird, and Robert (Carol) Bell of Kenosha; 8 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; a sister, Edith Mattson of Phoenix, AZ ; and numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Robert A. Bell, Minnie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Thelma Grassmeier; and 2 brothers, Vern and Earl Hedding. A celebration of Minnie's life will be held from 1 to 3 P.M. on Saturday, November 14, 2009 at the Kenneth and Debra Bell residence, rural Humbird.
