Ethel L. Engebretson, 76, of Black River Falls, WI passed away Friday, February 03, 2012 at Black River Memorial Hospital, while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice. She was born July 6, 1935 in Black River Falls to Lester and Julia (Bauer) Krome.
Ethel was a lifelong resident of Black River Falls and a graduate of Black River High School. She was united in marriage to Ronald Engebretson in Black River Falls on October 11, 1958.
Ethel was an active member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. She assisted with getting volunteers to help with funeral meals that were put on by the PCCW, communion at Pine View Care Center, and counting money after mass. Ethel volunteered with Life Line, Jackson County Interfaith Caregivers, Bingo at Pine View Terrace, and also would buy and clean stuffed animals for gifting to less fortunate children.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, reading, and taking care of others.
Ethel is survived by her husband, Ronald; godchildren, Christopher Mace, Marlene Menheer, Don Bauer, Paul Olson, Jean Olson-Jessop, John Quinlan; cousin, Ricky Bauer; nephew, Rick Engebretson; niece, Linda Opland; great nephew, Brent Engebretson; cousins, Debra Foley, Daniel, David, and Diane Bauer; close friends, David (Bonnie) Mace; other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lester and Julia.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Monday, February 6, 2012, 11:00 a.m., at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Black River Falls. Father Emmanuel Famiyeh will be officiating. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls.
Family and friends are invited for visitation Monday, February 6, 2012, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the funeral mass at the church.
Memorials may be given to Black River Memorial Hospice or to American Cancer Society Hope Lodge of Marshfield, 611 W. Doege St., Marshfield, WI 54449.
