Marion R. (Mrs. August) Paulson, age 83, of Black River Falls died Friday, December 9, 2011 in Pine View Care Center, Black River Falls, while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice.

Marion Rose Betz was born on April 27, 1928 in Port Washington, Wis. to Nicholas and Laura (Schmidt) Betz. She was raised in Port Washington and married August Paul Paulson on May 11, 1946 in Port Washington. Marion and August were married for 65 years.

The Paulsons lived in Port Washington for 25 years. They later moved to Cascade, Wis. Following August’s retirement, they moved to Phillips, Wis. and then to Black River Falls in 1993.

While living in Port Washington, Marion had been employed on a part-time basis in the laundry department of the Port Washington hospital.

She enjoyed flower gardening, birds, NASCAR racing, the Green Bay Packers, needlework, and helping her neighbors.

Survivors include her husband, August; a daughter, Linda (Harry Levin) Mokus of Littleton, Col.; a son, William (Margaret) Paulson of Burlington, Wis.; 6 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren; and 2 sisters, Lucille Farber of Waunakee and Patricia Baumann of Port Washington.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eugene “Butch” Paulson; a sister, Myrtle Kimlaw; and 2 brothers, William and James Betz.

Funeral services will be held at 6 P.M. on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at the Buswell Funeral Home, Black River Falls. Burial will be at 11 A.M. on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 in Riverside Cemetery, Black River Falls. Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Famiyeh will officiate.

Family and friends are invited for visitation from 4 to 6 P.M. on Tuesday at the Buswell Funeral Home.
