Gertrude W. Duffey Black River Falls, WI Gertrude W. Duffey, age 81, of Black River Falls, WI, passed away Friday, September 25, 2009, at Black River Memorial Hospital, Black River Falls, while under the care of Black River Memorial Hospice. Gertrude White was born on January 27, 1928 in Black River Falls to Felix and Agnes (Eagle) White. She attended Indian Schools in Tomah, Neillsville, and Flandreau, SD. She was married to Tom Duffey and he later died. In addition to having lived in Black River Falls, Gertrude had lived in Alabama and Chicago. Most of her life, however, was spent in Black River Falls. She had been employed at Nelson Muffler of Black River Falls for several years. Gertrude enjoyed playing bingo and Pakeno. She especially enjoyed her two “boys” (dogs) – Snickers and Scamp. Survivors include a son, Frank Wilson aka “Pancho” of Black River Falls; a sister, Ellen Rose Snowball of Black River Falls; a brother, Owen Wilson of Oneida; and numerous other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband, Tom, she was preceded in death by her parents, Felix and Agnes Wilson, 2 brothers, Felix White and Woodrow White, and a sister, Roxanne Masquad. Funeral services for Gertrude W. Duffey will be at 12 noon on Monday, September 28, 2009 at the District One Community Center, rural Black River Falls. Burial will be in Decorah Cemetery, also in rural Black River Falls. Cleland Goodbear and Dennis Funmaker will officiate. Family and friends are invited for visitation on Monday from 10 A.M. to noon at the District One Community Center.
